Cabinet Refinishing: Frequently Asked Questions
By Jim Forbes, Owner and Sole Proprietor, ForbesPaint
If you are thinking about hiring a cabinet refinishing service in South Jersey, a lot of questions probably come to mind. Below are answers to some frequently asked questions about cabinet refinishing.
Why should I refinish my cabinets? Refinishing your cabinets will make the largest impact on the look of your kitchen, because the cabinetry makes up a large part of your kitchen space.
How much less does refinishing my cabinets cost than refacing or replacing them? Prices vary depending on the quality of the work you have done and the quality of what you buy. Refinishing can cost from $1,500 to $3,000, refacing can run from $7,000 to $10,000, and replacing your cabinets can cost $15,000 or more. These are only ballpark estimates.
Will the paint chip? While paint does chip, I take steps to prevent this by applying water-based polyurethane over the paint, which gives it a durable, chip-resistant finish.
Can you fix minor defects before you paint my cabinets? Minor defects can be addressed before the cabinets are painted. I always visually inspect cabinets before giving an estimate so any of this work can be included in the estimate, eliminating surprises whenever possible.
Who will do the work? Me, Jim Forbes, the owner and sole proprietor. I do all the work from start to finish.
How long will it take to refinish my cabinets? It will take about five to eight days to refinish your cabinets, depending on the amount of cabinetry in the kitchen.
Will I be able to use my kitchen while you do the work? It is best not to use the stove during the actual painting process because of all the masking material used to protect the area.
Are you insured? I am insured. It is mandated by the state of New Jersey.
